On the 13th of March 2017, with organizational support from the Azerbaijan Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross, there was held a seminar on “The International Humanitarian Law and activities of the ICRC in Azerbaijan” for members of the Working Group of the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Baku Office of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
The participants of the seminar were informed about history and activities of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and the ICRC. In addition, the members of the Working Group were informed about history, activity directions and ongoing projects of the Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society which is the biggest and the officially recognized humanitarian organization in the country.
The seminar also included a session on the International Humanitarian Law (IHL), tracing missing persons and visits to places of detention.
Head of International Relation department of the AzRC Ms.Naila Omarova, head of Dissemination Sector Khalid Khalilov, head of Public Relations department of Baku Office of the ICRC Ilaha Huseinova, legal advisor Jala Azizova, a regional delegate for activities on missing persons Samir Hajimustafich, delegate of the ICRC for visits to places of detention Anna Leshinskaya attended the seminar.
