As you know one of the objectives of Youth and Volunteers Department of the Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society as identified in the National Society’s Strategic Plan for the years 2016-2020 is HIV/AIDS peer education, to help young people to take right decisions, to develop young people’s healthy behaviors to prevent HIV/AIDS.
In this connection, the 19th General Meeting of the European Network on HIV/AIDS (ERNA) took place on 17-21 July 2017 in Bishkek city of Kyrgyzstan. The meeting was devoted to the role of young people in ERNA policy. In total, 70 participants from 23 National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies participated at the meeting.
One of the main objectives of the meeting was to review organizational issues of the European Network on HIV/AIDS. The role of young people in the development of ERNA, future location of ERNA Secretariat, finding finance sources of ERNA, involvement of young people in the meetings of ERNA were discussed during the meeting.
It was decided that the Secretariat of ERNA would be located in Bishkek city of Kyrgyzstan as it was before. During the 5 day meeting the participants made presentations, participated in group works and wrote projects.
The Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society was represented at the meeting by Deputy Secretary and Head of Youth and Volunteers department of the AzRC Khalida Iskendarova.
