Since December 2012 the Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society with finance and technical support of the Austrian Development Agency and the Austrian Red Cross Society has been implementing “Building safe and resilient communities” project. This project is being implemented in Diyalli, Tezekend, Kurdmashi, Tirjan, Sumagalli and Zarnava villages of Ismayilli distirct and Anig and Kuzun villages of Qusar district. The main aim of the project is to reduce vulnerability of population to natural disasters by establishing safe and resilient communities.
Since the launch of the project a number of events have been organized by the Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society. As a continuation of these events the Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society organized an event on “Teaching first aid skills to the general population” on the 2nd of August in Huray village of Gusar district. The staff and volunteers of the Headquarters of the National Society, Sumgayit Regional Center, Sumgayit city branch of the AzRC, Ismayilli and Gusar district branches of the AzRC, the representatives of village community groups, local executive authority and municipality of Gusar district as well as village population participated at the event. The head of the clinic of the Iranian Red Crescent Society in Baku city Bahman Sobhani also participated at the event.
During the event the teams consisting of volunteers of Sumgayit city branch, Ismayilli and Gusar district branches of the AzRC and village community members demonstrated first aid skills. A quiz on First Aid was also organized during the event. The winners of the quiz were awarded with gifts.
