Youth Forum of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement was held on 4-5 November 2017 in Antalya city of Turkey. More than 150 youth delegates from the National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies of 110 countries participated in the Forum. It should be mentioned that this number is a record number for youth delegates that ever attended Statutory Meetings of the International RC/RC Movement. Youth Forum organized by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the Turkish Red Crescent Society (Turkish RCS) started with opening addresses of the IFRC President Mr. Tadateru Konoe and the Turkish RCS President Dr.Kerem Kinik to youth delegates. Welcoming youth delegates of the Movement the two Presidents noted with appreciation the commendable and successful activities of young volunteers in the Movement and in their respective National Societies. They also stressed that young volunteers are a major driving force for the Movement and therefore proposing new initiative in youth area is important in terms of strengthening a role of young people in the Movement and the National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. IFRC President Tadateru Konoe said: “The youth is a driving force of our Movement”. Then Youth Commission of the IFRC presented its 2 years activity report. During the Youth Forum global and regional groups of youth delegates widely discussed global and regional issues of their concern. Topics such as Migration Policy, Volunteering Policy, Youth Engagement Strategy and Strategy 2030 of the IFRC were also discussed by participants of Youth Forum. Youth delegates from different National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies shared their activities, achievements and challenges in the above-mentioned areas with each other. At the end of Youth Forum participants took a memorable photo.
The Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society was represented in Youth Forum by head of International Relations department Naila Omarova. During the Forum Naila Omarova has had meetings with youth delegates from National Red Cross and Red Crescents of Turkey, Italy, Russia and a number of other countries. During these meetings perspectives of future cooperation in youth area were discussed.
